So it's 2:30 in the afternoon in Ethiopia and hopefully you all are still sleeping casue it's only 4:30 in the morning in MH. I just had the most amazing fruit saled, nothing like fresh fruit right off the trees and sipping on my 4th expresso, damn they have good coffee! Lee is still catching up on his zzz's upstairs. We are staying at the KVI Guesthouse, the most hospitable people ever, they are waiting on us hand and foot and taking care of our every need. It is more like a bed and breakfast. Poor lady who understands and speaks English, i swear she gets nothing done, everytime I ask something they are running to get her.
So let me start from the begining. We thought our flight left Calgary at 8:15 pm Thurs night so we THOUGHT we had plenty of time. Well we took our time getting to Calgary, made a few stops and decided to eat at the airport since we thought we had all this time, well good thing we didnt stop to eat on the way becasue we would have missed our flight! We arrive at the airport to check in, we were told that it had closed 2 minutes ago and reminded us that we needed to check in 2 hours prior, we said we were cause our flight wasnt leaving until 8:15, she said no and that the plane would be boarding in 20 minutes. We just about died, she said she didnt think she would be able to open it up again becasue there wouldnt be enough time to go through secruity etc. We said a quick prayer, she then got a hold of her supervisor and reopened the flight becasue there were 2 other families who were late as well, she said, "you guys are lucky, someone is looking out for you." So we checked in and ran to security and boarded the plane, phew!! We just kept thinking what if what if what if we would have stopped to eat ect, man that was close!
So it was a long flight to London, we both watched a movie then tried to sleep, of course Lee was able to sleep but even as drugged up as i was no sleep for me so i was a little cranky the next day, Lee might say I was a little more than just cranky. So since we had a 10 hour layover we decided to hop on the shuttle to London, it was great, we stayed there for about 3 hours. We had lunch at one of the many little sandwich/cafe bars. I had a bri chz and apple sandwich, so yummy. We then went on the double decker tour bus, we sat on top which was freezing and windy! This added to my crankiness but it was still cool. We say where prince Charles and Diana were married and where William and Kate will be married and Buckinham Palace which is nothing what i expected. It's basically this house right in the middle of London with everything around it, shopping ect. There was paperozi (sp?) outside this one building, not sure who was in there.
Then back to the airport and on our way to Ethiopia! I was SO tired by now i just wanted to crash on the plane which i was able to for a few hours at least, watching the sun rise in London and Ethiopia was a beautiful thing to see. So We arrived at 7:30 am this morning, we met another couple while we were getting our visa's, they are from Red Deer and adopting through the same agency as well, small world, they got thier referral 1 day before us, they are adopting 2 boys, we should see them again at the court date, they are staying at a different place than us. So our driver picked us up from the airport, the friendliest guys ever. It was only about a 5 minute drive from the airport to our Guest House. as we were driving he told us that what we were seeing was not the real Ethiopia which we will get to see later when we tour around. So when we arrived we were welcomed with open arms and they explained everything to us and answered all of our questions. Man are the women beautiful here, every single one of them! Our driver called the nurse at Isabel's orphanage, they arranged that a driver will pick us up tomorow morning at 8 am to bring us to the orphange to meet our Isabel!! Oh I cant believe it! So we then settled in our room, we wanted to take a much needed shower after travelling for 2 days but we had to heat up the hot water tank first. I unpacked a bit and Lee crashed. I tried to sleep but all I could hear was the beautiful sound of children playing just outside below us, i took some pics of them which they loved. So it took a couple of hours to get hot water lol, so i took a shower and came downstairs, it is just like a home here, they welcomed me again like i was thier sister and offered me food and coffee, that is when i had the best fruit saled I ever had. Then it took me about another hour just trying to get on this blog, the computer here is very slow and shuts down alot. While i was typing there were 5 women who sat down to eat, they all eat out of one bowl with thier hands, they offered me some, I tried it and it was good but very spicy, they laughed. So i am now working on my 6th expresso, maybe that's why i am up and Lee's still in bed! So I am no off to explor the area a little by myself, its SO beautiful outside! There's lots of kids in the area that i want to get some pics of. So tomorow is THE DAY, man oh man :) I read on my facebook that Sharon L said that another couple passed court just with the emailed documents that were supposed to be sent so hoefully that happens for us to!
So bye for now :)
