Time for bed after a long day

So our driver Soloman drove us around all day. Today was the first day of Lent so the streets were extremly busy, many with the orthadox. They pray and worship St Mary, there were pictures of her everywhere today with men and women bowing down and kissing her. We saw many disabled men and women sitting on the pavement asking for money. There were also alot of people asking for us to take there picture but only if we gave them money. There were so many traffic jams today , like cars packed like bricks and while we were stopped so many would knock on our window asking for money so they could eat. I couldnt believe the amount of people there were today and all the vehicles, bumper to bumper and horns honking like crazy, the fumes were intoxicating. And market after market. We were more than happy to get back to the guest house, it was just overwhelming. When we arrived back we had a coffe ceremony, so cool. Our driver told us that if we come back for a longer period he would like to drive us down South which is a 2 day drive to see the tribes, the ones with the spears and rings in thier lip etc. Soloman said that thier kind is fading out and becoming more civilized, he believes they will not be around in 10 years.

Another couple arrived this morning, they are here to pick up their son so it was neat to chat with them, they are from PEI so we should get to meet there son before we leave.

So court in the morning! Our driver is picking us up at 9 am, so tomorrow is the day! So off to bed soon, before you know it we will be woken up by the muslims again lol, or the dogs, one or another.

  1. Reading this kind of stresses me out because I have traveled with you before and do you remember when you gave your shoes to someone on the beach in cuba because they asked for them and then you burnt your feet trying to get back to the room...be careful! Lee, don't let her out of your sight or you might find your suitcase empty because she gave it all away :) That is what I love about you though Melissa!

Thanks for sharing this journey with us. We are praying for your court date. I often wake up to feed Nate in the middle of the night and think of you guys awake in Ethiopia. I am one of the few people that will be awake to pray while it is happening. Can't wait for an update.

Lots of love, Ian & Kim
